About

Welcome to the Alamo City Femmes — the first all-girls team within the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) in the state of Texas. We believe that every girl deserves the opportunity to pursue her passion for cycling in an empowering and supportive environment.

Our team was founded on the principle that girls should have a dedicated space to develop their skills, build confidence, and foster camaraderie. Unlike traditional co-ed teams where girls are often added to male rosters, we provide a unique platform exclusively for girls to thrive. Whether your goal is to compete fiercely for the podium at NICA races or to ride with us for fun, fitness, and friendship, we welcome you.

At the Alamo City Femmes, we celebrate the spirit of sisterhood, resilience, and athleticism. Join us as we break barriers and redefine cycling, creating pathways for girls to excel and inspire each other along the way. Together, we are more than just a team—we are a community.

  • Whitney Bescheinen

    Team Director & Head Coach

For as long as I can remember riding bikes has been an integral part of my life. I got my first mountain bike in 1995 and I felt unstoppable and SO free! Back then, the trails I rode were unmarked game trails in the area now called Leon Creek mountain bike trails, how I didn't end up with flat tire after flat tire riding in that rough terrain is beyond me!

As an adult female mountain biker, I began to realize that the sport can fail to be inclusive of female athletes and we are greatly underrepresented. Alamo City Femmes is a passion project long in the making for me, I am stoked beyond belief to provide young girls with an inclusive, equitable, and FUN environment for them to grow their skills in. I'm thrilled to be working alongside coaches who share the same passion.
